In line with the Turkey’s new foreign policy in which there is no place for the western powers and the European neighbours, the bilateral relation between Ankara and the North Atlantic Trade Organisation has deteriorated.

The new issue between the West and the Arabian country is the alleged provocative actions during the NATO exercise.

It has been alleged that during the NATO exercise happening in Norway those organising the exercise have disrespectfully used an image of Turkey’s founder Mustafa Kemal Ataturk as the image of the enemy.

In a demonstration of the country’s protest, Ankara has called back their representatives who were participating in the exercise.

Anyway, the Norway Defence Minister, Frank Bakke-Jensen has released a statement of apology for the inappropriate experience the Arabian autocratic nation went through. He has also asserted that those persons involved in the disrespectful act have been removed from the service.

For the last few months, the bilateral relationship between the liberal European countries and the autocratic nation has been consistently worsening.

The human rights abuses exercised by the Turkish President Erdogen’s regime in the aftermath of the failed coup are the prime reason behind the deterioration of relations.

The European Union in which Germany is one the prime members recently denied membership to the authoritarian country.
