Clearly showcasing that neither the power of money nor the skills of advocates help a real culprit to escape the godly clutches of justice, the prime accused of Kerala Dalit law student rape and murder case, Ameerul Islam, has been convicted by the Ernakulam Principle Sessions Court.
The court has found the prime accused guilty of all charges, except destruction of evidence and violations under the SC and ST Prevention of Atrocities act, registered by the police department.
The Kerala Police Department, particularly all those officials who have taken part in the investigation, and the prosecution deserve special appreciation for the effort they put in to prove the case, which is solely based on the circumstantial and scientific evidences as there is no direct eye witness in the case.
As per the latest report, the quantum of sentence will be announced tomorrow. The prosecution has appealed for maximum punishment. There is no doubt in the fact that that the culprit deserves severe punishment and will get it tomorrow.
The brutal crime, which jolted the hearts of Kerala, happened in April last year. The victim was found murdered at her small single-room house located in Perumbavoor, Kerala.
