The cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu is set to launch a new political front in Punjab, named ‘Awaz-e-Punjab’. It seems that this time Punjab will witness a four-front battle. As per the report, the Bains brothers, Balwinder Singh Bains and Simarjit Singh Bains, and former hockey hero Pargat singh join hand with Sindu to form an anti-corruption front. The news was initially publicised by the Bains brothers through their social media platform. In their Facebook page, they posted the picture of all of them. The picture carries the title ‘Awaz-e-Punjab’. When asked about the forth front, the hockey hero informally acknowledged the information. But, interestingly, he hesitated to give more details about the new party. It is learned that the four leaders officially met at Delhi on August 31 to discuss the possibility of a new political front. Sidhu is expected to make a formal announcement about his new political party on September 8. But, from whatever information we have at this moment, it is not yet clear whether the new political party will participate in the election or not. Meanwhile, Mr Pargat asserts that the new organisation is constituted to clean up the ruined administrative system of Punjab. Until last day, Punjabis only expected a three-corner battle between opposition congress, ruling Shiromani Akali Dal-BJP, and rising AAP. It is said that the internal battles and authoritarian administrative system have weakened the Aam Admi Party in the state. Some people claim that the new political party is the brain-child of Yogendra Yadav, a former AAP leader who was expelled from the party for allegedly creating an anti-Kejriwal camp. Anyway, the arrival of a new political party may alter the electoral calculation of the state.
