The ruling Christian Democratic Union led by the German chancellor, Angela Merkel, has been defeated by the anti-immigration party, which was formed nearly three years ago. The far-rightist party propagating the anti-immigrant and anti-Muslim policies has secured nearly twenty-one per cent votes. It is said that the migrant policy adopted by the German supremo had badly affected the CDU and their trust. This year, Germany gave shelter to over one million refugees hailing from the war distorted regions of Asia- like Syria, Afghanistan, and Libya. The pro-refugee policies adopted by the Germany was strongly criticized by the far rightist groups. The most-popular leader of Germany still enjoys strong support from her allies, even if her policies put the union into a deep trouble. In fact, there is no strong leader to replace her in the German political hemisphere. Even the leaders of the anti-immigrant party are not strong enough to topple the supremo. Even though she has not yet declared whether she is willing to contest for a fourth consecutive term during the next year’s general elections, she is unlikely to step down from the top post. While speaking to the reporters, Merkel claimed that she is very happy with the poll result. Interestingly, she strongly defended the migrant policies articulated by her government. Meanwhile, some CDU leaders opined that the migrant policy is the prime reason for the sudden drop of the vote percentage. They reportedly advised the ruling government to consider some changes in the most discussed policy.
