Responding to a petition, which suggested several recommendations for the safety of wild animals, the central government has informed the Supreme Court of India that a committee constituted to formulate feasible policies to protect and safeguard wildlife would consider the suggestions given by the petitioner.
As per the report, the standing committee of the wildlife board is scheduled to meet for discussions on January 25.
The measures to curb human-wildlife conflict, the plan to protest the endangered Great Indian Bustard, the mechanism to curb animal death on roads and highways, the measures to reduce animal death by electrocution are the prime suggestions in the petition submitted in the top court by the petitioner.
The case has been considered by a SC bench, comprising Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justice A M Khanwilkar and D Y Chandrachud.
It is learned that the central government through the Attorney General, K K Venugopal, has requested four months time for making policies pointing the depth of the issue.
It is the high time for the authorities to take feasible policies to protect the endangered animals and to ensure the natural habitat of wild animals are not disturbed.
It is necessary that more importance should be given to wildlife protection.
