India less likely to accept foreign financial assistance to deal with Kerala flood

As per a latest report, the Indian government has decided not to accept the financial assistance of the foreign countries such as the United Arab Empire and Qatar to deal with the unexpected economic liabilities created by the unprecedented flood engulfed the state killing hundreds of people and disturbing lakhs of lives.

Recently, the UAE offered a huge financial assistance of seven hundred crore Indian rupees to the flood-affected South Indian state of Kerala.

The India workforce constitutes a major part of the UAE workforce. The preponderance of those Indians who work in the UAE is the people from the South Indian state of Kerala.

The UAE always shows a deep attachment to the Indian state of Kerala. The huge financial assistance offer is thought to have come as the part and parcel of that emotional attachment both regions share.

It seems that the central government is not interested to encourage such a bonding and the commitment naturally comes with such a kind of bonding. Most probably, it is not willing to give any special status to the Arab union of countries that the other countries in the region do not have.

Anyway, the Kerala government may try to pressurise the central government to remove the impediments to the process of accepting foreign assistance to the flood relief activities.
