Finally, promising a new future, Rahul Gandhi has officially accepted the helm of the Congress Party from his mother, Sonia Gandhi, who has been controlling it for almost two decades.
In the official ceremony organised to handover the victory certificate, the winner has invited the country’s youth population to join him to create a new India.
In his speech, the Congress leader has strongly criticised the BJP and the NDA government led by PM Narendra eModi. He has asserted that his party is not going to follow the bad model of hate politics introduced by the saffron party.
Several senior Congress Party members, including Sonia Gandhi, Manmohan Singh, have attended the event organised in the Congress headquarters today.
All those assembled in the venue have expressed their happiness and, moreover, congratulated the newly elected supremo.
Several party workers, hailing from different regions of the country, have gathered outside the AICC office during the ceremony to express their happiness. For many, it has been a festival day.
The young leader is the sixth member of the Nehru family to occupy this prestigious position. There are indications, in the inauguration speech itself, that there would be a reshuffle in the Congress Working Committee, which is highest decision making body of the party.
