Minutes before the official commencement of the vote of confidence in the legislative assembly of the South Indian state of Karnataka, the newly inducted Chief Minister, B S Yeddyurappa, after making an emotional speech in the house, has announced his decision to resign from the post into which he was appointed after an inconclusive election a couple of days before.
In the speech, the CM has asserted that he always stand for the farmers of the state and will approach the public directly. He has also boasted that his party would secure an astounding victory in the 2019 General Election. Moreover, he has indirectly alleged that the congress party has colluded with the JD(S) to undermine the real mandate of the public.
The resignation has marked an end to several speculations. There are reports that the BJP, which was at least seven short of the required majority, has been indulging in illicit house trading means to win the support of opposition MLAs since the declaration of the Karnataka Assembly Election result.
As the resignation has destructed the last hindrance for the induction of JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy at the helm of the Karnataka government, the Congress-JD(S) alliance, which was formed after the declaration of the assembly election result, are likely to present their demand once again before the Karnataka governor, who earlier rejected a similar request a couple of days before for the BJP leader.
