Kerala stands behind ‘Vayalkilikal’

The new developments happening in the South Indian state of Kerala indicate that a strong anti-communist sentiment is slowly emerging in the state in the form of an agitation which has successfully moved the hearts of all Keralites irrespective of their political belief.

The agitation has been organised at Keezhattur (a strong hold of the communists) to fight the irresponsible stand of a CPI (M) district committee which is supporting the National Highways Authority’s bypass project proposed to pass through a paddy field.

Since the birth of the communist movement in the state, the party has been working relentlessly for the progress of peasants and the protection of farm lands and agriculture.

The aforementioned attitude of the party has helped it to amass the support of the powerful peasant class who constitutes a considerable part of the population of the state.

In the agitation, which has been organised by the Keezhattur Agitation Solidarity Committe, several anti-left political leaders have participated.

The presence of BJP’s star campaigner and MP Suresh Gobi in the aforementioned agitation which has delivered a clear warning against the CPI (M) attempt to dilute their pro-peasants policies clearly indicates that the Saffron Party, which is trying to make inroads in the state, aims to politicise the issue and clandestinely projects it as the savior of the peasant class.

Political observers say that if the communist parties fail to lend their ears to the genuine grievances of the peasant class it will face the same fate like what its Tripura unit –recently- and its West Bengal unit –a couple of months ago- suffered.
