LokPrahari’s legal fight succeeded; I-T investigating 98 MLAs and seven MPs

Giving a positive result to the legal fight done by a Non-Government Organisation called ‘LokPrahari’, the Income Tax department’s investigative wing has found that the assets of nearly ninety-eight Legislative Assembly members and around seven Parliament members are not proportionate with the source they publically declared.

Earlier, the ‘LokPrahari’ filed a list of nearly 26 Lok Sabha members, 11 Rajya Sabha members and 257 Assembly members in the top court, claiming that the asserts of those politicians mentioned in the list grown up to 500% during the period they enjoyed the impunity of political power as the elected members.

While responding to the remarks made by the court in connection with the issue, the Central Board of Direct Taxes has informed the court that the assets of over ninety-eight Legislative Assembly members and nearly seven Parliament members, who were mentioned in the controversial list, are disproportionate with their known source of income.

The board has added that there is no discrepancy in the assets of around 117 MLAs, 19 Lok Sabha MPs and two Rajya Sabha MPs who were mentioned in the list submitted to the Supreme Court by the NGO.

Anyway, the board has also informed that the authorities have not yet completed the verification of the assets of all the members mentioned in the list.
