Hours after the dramatic resignation of the Zimbabwean autocrat, Robert Mugabe, the dismissed Vice-President of the country, Emmerson Mnangagwa, has been inducted as the president.

Tens of thousands of people have attended the induction ceremony. Happiness and joy have existed in the eyes of all those who have attended the function.

Several political leaders, including the leaders of some neighboring African nations, have attended the function, which has taken place in the National Sports Stadium in Harare. Notably, even, the opposition leaders, such as Morgan Tsvangirai and Joice Mujuru, have attended the inauguration.

Importantly, the resigned President and his wife, for whom Mr Mugabe expelled his close confidante from the Vice-President post, have not participated in the ceremony.

In his first address to the nation as the president, Mr Mnangagwa has pledged to serve all citizens. Interestingly, in his speech, he has also mentioned about Robert Mugabe by calling him his leader and mentor.

During the entire function, the new first lady, Auxilia, has been with the newly inducted supremo. Immediately after accepting the symbol of power, the president has gently kissed his wife, acknowledging the support she has given him during his tough days.

It seems that the country is slowly returning to normal.
