Munambam Beach soon to be accessible for wheelchair users

As part of the Kerala government’s Barrier-Free Tourism Project, few public places have been made accessible by the installation of accessible ramps and Braille signage.

The new to the list is Munambam Beach in Ernakulam district. The authorities claim shortly, wheelchair users can enjoy the sea breeze and enjoy the beach view.

Recently, District Collector K Mohammad Safirula and other officials reviewed the progress and they are said to be satisfied with the pace of work.

Presently, the installation of wheelchair ramps is going on. For about 10 metres long and two metres wide ramp is planned to set up and with be open to the public. Through this, a wheelchair user can go to the shore of Mubambam beach where the popular Periyar River meets the sea.
