No Surprises! NDA’s nominee wins RS Deputy Speaker post

With the support of nearly one hundred and twenty two Rajya Sabha members, National Democratic Alliance nominee Harivansh Narayan Singh has defeated his prime opponent –opposition nominee B K Hariprasad- to win the prestigious deputy speaker post of the Upper House of the Indian parliament.

Earlier, the opposition parties predicted that they would win the Rajya Sabha deputy speaker post in the election.

Unfortunately, the opposition have failed to secure the support of more than ninety eight people in their effort to defeat the NDA’s bid to induct Mr Singh as the RS deputy speaker.

The senior leaders of the ruling government, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Corporate Affairs minister Arun Jaitley, has congratulated the newly elected RS Deputy Speaker.

It is an interesting thing to note that the new speaker is a former journalist, who has worked in several renowned publications under several senior journalists across the country.

Mr Singh is the most accepted leader of the JD(U), the party which joined the BJP led NDA in the recent past after ditching its short-term alliance with the Congress and RJD.

The RS Deputy Speaker election has been less effortful for the ruling regime than what it was predicted before the election by the political experts.
