PM insists NITI Aayog to monitor ‘National Building Schemes’

In an effort to ensure the effective implementation of the ‘National Building Schemes’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi insisted ‘NITI Aayog’, an alternative to the ‘Planning Commission’, to monitor the ambitious schemes. At the behest of the supremo, the NITI Aayog consulted the responsible officials of various ministries, which are presently involved in implementing the proposed schemes, and demanded that the ministries must appoint high level official to coordinate the productive implementation of the PM’s schemes. As per report, the effective coordination of various government departments is needed to attain productive and timely implementation of the schemes. Currently, the prescribed coordination process is not properly working so it is lagging the flagship schemes, it added. Experts claim that with the involvement of NITI Aayog, the centre can ensure coordination between different implementing organs. According to information, the National Institute of Transforming India Aayog will monitor flagship projects like Namami Gange, Soil Health Card, National Rurban Mission, Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojna and many more. Dispute of investing crores of rupees to generate a positive wave, preponderance of these projects are currently moving at a snails pace. It seems that the newly developed NITI Aayog is aggressively adopting the functions of scrapped planning commission and silently transforming into a centralised monitoring and planning body. NITI Aayog was constituted on last year after dismantling sixty year old planning commission for developing a ‘bottom to top’ policy making process instead of the soviet model plan.
