Rajoy loses parliamentary bid; Spain’s political crisis reaches its peak

Putting the political crisis in its peak, the Spanish Prime Minister, Mariano Rajoy, lost a parliamentary bid for a second consecutive time in the top office. As per the report, the unpredicted incident has again pushed the country towards the edge of political struggle. This is the second time that the Spanish PM is testing his strength in the parliament. In his earlier attempt also, he faced a miserable failure. Mr Rajoy is a strong political leader and a member of the Conservative Popular Party, which is the single largest party in the Spain parliament. According to the report, in his second attempt, he only grabbed around one-hundred and seventy votes. For a safe majority, he needs at least one-hundred and seventy-six votes. Experts say that main reason for his unexpected failure was the opposition unanimously opposed his parliamentary bid. Though CPP is a strong party, it lacks an absolute majority in the Spanish parliament. So, the support of opposition party is necessary to enter the top position. The CPP has nearly one-hundred and thirty-seven lawmakers in the parliament. In this presidential bid, the PM secured the support of thirty-three others also. An anti-corruption party and some regional party like Canary island party voted in favour of the PM. Mr Rajoy helped the country to revive from the economic crisis. But, throughout his regime, the unemployment rates were extremely high.
