Special court convicts former Jharkhand CM Madhu Koda in coal block allocation scam case

A special court, constituted to hear the controversial coal block allocation scam case, has found former Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda guilty.

Apart from Mr Koda, former Coal Secretary Harish Chandra Gupta has also been convicted by the special court headed by special Judge Bharat Parashar.

The prime charges, which have been leveled against the accused, have been criminal conspiracy and corruption charges.

There have been nearly nine accused in the sensitive case. Of the nine accused, four have been acquitted by the special court.

As per the latest report, the court is likely to announce the quantum of sentence at 2 p.m. tomorrow.

The Central Bureau of Investigation, which investigated the case, has proved that the top politician and senior bureaucrats colluded with a private company to enable the latter illegally grab a coal block located in Jharkhand.

The private company, which is mentioned in the case, is the Vini Iron and Steel Udyog Limited. At this moment, it is not clear whether the accused will approach higher courts or not.

Anyway, it is apparent that all those accused who has been found guilty in the case is likely to receive serious punishment.
