Special court convicts Self-Styled Godman Asaram

A special court, overcoming all difficulties, has finally convicted a self-styled godman who extensively used her wealth and social support to escape from a cruel crime he committed.

Asaram was a powerful person with numerous dedicated followers in at least five north Indian states such as Rajasthan, Haryana and Gujarat, until the year 2013 in which he was arrested for allegedly raping a minor girl who lived in his ashram.

After his arrest, several dramatic incidents happened; several witnesses related to the case disappeared and the power of wealth and social support of Asaram continuously exerted immense pressure in the system.

With this verdict, the Indian Judicial System has clearly proved that no one is above law and one’s political, social and economic strength never help him/her to escape from the clutches of our legal system which always strives to stay with common people.

As per a media report, the self-styled godman has been convicted under the section 376 of IPC and POSCO Act.

The report says that apart from Asaram, the prime co-accused in the infamous minor rape case, Shiva and Shilpi has also been convicted by the special court.

As per a latest update, the Home Ministry has directed nearly five North Indian states where Asaram have a strong follower base to tighter their internal security measures.
