The Iconic train Rajdhani Express reaches golden jubilee

India’s first Rajdhani Express, which revolutionised India Railways with luxurious and speed completes a golden journey of 50 years on Sunday.

Rajdhani first began from Howrah to New Delhi on March 3 1969. The super speedy train covers a distance of 1445km in 17 hours 20 min. Which means it runs with a speed of 120 km/hr was flagged off from New Delhi to Howrah.

The name Rajdhani reflects the connect with the capital of the country – New Delhi to other cities.

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has planned to make this moment really special by treating passengers of the 12301 Howrah-New Delhi Rajdhani Express that departs Kolkata on Sunday. The celebration of the golden run will continue on arrival at New Delhi Railway station at platform No 16.
