US finance regulator opens investigation against Apple

US’ Department of Financial Services, the United State finance regulator, has launched an investigation against technological conglomerate Apple.

The investigation has been launched to probe whether Apple credit card violates the US’ policy against the discrimination on the basis of gender.

A complaint was raised against the company, stating that it offered different credit limits for men and women.

The DFS will investigate whether the tech conglomerate violated the country’s policy against the discrimination on the basis of gender.

In the United States, the discrimination on the basis of gender, both intentional and unintentional, is against its law – that is, illegal.

Interestingly, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak has blamed the algorithm of the software for the alleged discrimination.

A software designer said it was a textbook example to prove not only people but also algorithms could discriminate.
