Identifying the urgent need to articulate an appreciable decision in order to erase the taint appeared on the image of the US film industry, the United States’ Oscars Academy is set to deliberate the sexual harassment allegation raised against renowned producer Harvey Weinstein by several actresses and models.

Giving a good message to the film industry, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts earlier suspended the membership of the alleged offender.

At this moment, it is not clear whether the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will consider such an extreme step against the producer, whose films grabbed several Oscar awards in the past.

Earlier, there were reports that Mr Weinstein, who denied all allegations, requested the support of his colleagues.

The International media houses have reported that the New York Police Department is investigating the case and is likely to record the detailed statements of those who raised sexual harassment allegations against the producer.

Though some who know Mr Weinstein’s behavioural irregularities have called it as an open secret in the film industry, some others who have maintained a good friendly relationship with the producer have expressed shock.

The fact that Mr Weinstein worked closely with the Democrats during the latest US Presidential Election gives a political colour to the issue.
