Hitachi Energy and Eve Air Mobility have entered into a strategic partnership to develop the power infrastructure required for Eve’s electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, commonly known as flying cars. The collaboration marks Eve’s first agreement focused on creating charging infrastructure for its next-generation aircraft.
Under a memorandum of understanding, Hitachi Energy will adapt its electric vehicle fleet charging technology to meet the unique demands of eVTOL operations. Eve’s Vice President of Customer Services, Luiz Mauad, emphasized that reliable power infrastructure is essential from the very first day of commercial operations, while Hitachi Energy’s Brazil head, Glauco Freitas, said the company will tailor its technology specifically for electric aviation.
Controlled by Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer, Eve is currently conducting flight tests of its eVTOL aircraft and expects certification by 2028. The company has already secured approximately 2,700 pre-orders globally, highlighting growing interest in urban air mobility as the industry prepares for commercial deployment.
