Centre to turn North-East into trade hub: Union Home Minister

The center government is keen to transform North-East region of India into a commercial trade hub. While speaking at an event organised to celebrate 181st anniversary of Assam Rifles, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh asserts that Center is planning to establish a trade hub in North-East region. By establishing a trade point in North East region, the government is eyeing on productive commercial-engagements with South East Asian counties. The country should wipe out security threats in order to fulfill this dream, added Minister. During his brief deliberation about the plan, Minister admits that the country should create an attractive infrastructure before getting deep into the project. Interestingly, Minister appreciated Assam Rifles for its role in maintaining peace and stability in the region. As the region still resides far below the national average in development rate, Minister asserts that his government is obliged to implement rapid development in North East regions. The anti-national elements, like Maoist organisations and some terror outfits, are intentionally trying to derail the development programs, Minister added. Notably, he reveals that he could welcome peace talk with terrorist outfits if they drop their weapons and give up violence.  Assam Rifles, constituted in 1835, is one of the oldest paramilitary organisations in our country. Recently, it attracted public attention by inducting female cadres in the forces. Currently, the force is working under central home ministry.
