In order to put an end to the illogical practice of ‘Triple Talaq’, which is still being practiced in certain regions of the country despite it was ruled unconstitutional by the Supreme Court, a historical bill, empowering the country’s judiciary to give harsher punishments and fines for those who use this method to illegally get rid of his partner, is set to be introduced by the central government later today in the parliament.

The bill, named ‘the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage)’, is likely to be tabled in the lower house by the Union Law Minister, Ravi Shankar Prasad.

The bill, which was prepared by an inter-ministerial committee in which the top officials of several ministries like law ministry and home ministry were active members, already received the accent of the central cabinet.

The bill makes it impossible for anyone to practice the irrational act of ‘Triple Talaq’ by empowering the country’s judicial system to give severe punishments and fines to those who try to perform it publically or privately.

Moreover, the bill also ensures that the victims of this practice get proper compensation from the perpetrators of the crime.

Some Muslim organisations expressed disagreement, claiming that they were not consulted while making such a significant move.

However, the bill, once implemented, would protest the Muslim women from all kinds of difficulties and dangers posed by the old practice.
