Moscow suspends agreement with US on disposal of Plutonium

In what could be considered as a clear sign of degrading bilateral relation between the Russia and US, Moscow suspended the agreement with Washington on the disposal of excess Plutonium. As per the deal, both sides are supposed to dispose nearly thirty-four tonnes of Plutonium. While speaking at a public occasion, the Russian supremo alleged that the Russian government had taken all possible measures to implement the agreement but their American counterpart did not take any visible steps. Anyway, the US government strongly denounced that Russian statement regarding the implementation of the bilateral agreement. Now, it is learned that the Russian authorities are planning to submit some pre-conditions before the United States for the agreement to be resumed.

As per the media reports, the pre-condition dossier presented in the Russian parliament includes the lifting of the US ban and reduction of the US military troops functioning in the NATO countries. The US and European Union had earlier imposed strict sanction on the Russian government following its annexation of the Ukraine’s Crimea region. The tension between these two great powers –US and Russia- increased when the Russian side joined the pro-government wing in the Syrian war while the United States and some gulf countries were supporting some rebel groups. Experts claim that the Russian military is aiming to strengthen the nuclear arsenal. Experts added that the accumulation of nuclear weapons in a semi-dictatorial nation is very dangerous to its neighbours.
