Nepal supremo visits India amidst increasing Beijing-Delhi tensions

Amidst the rising tension between Beijing and Delhi, Nepal Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has arrived in India. There have been reports that Kathmandu which shares borders with the Asia’s largest communist country and the continent’s largest democracy is under pressure from both sides which continuously urge the mountainous country to take sides in the issues concerning India and China. As per the media report, the official meeting sessions will begin today. Surprisingly, showing special respect to India’s friendly neighbour, the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, met the Nepal Prime Minister yesterday itself. Notably, Sushma Swaraj, a senior minister of the PM Modi’s cabinet, received the Nepal supremo at the IGI airport in New Delhi on last day.

These special privileges and respect given to the Nepal leader indicate that Delhi loves to strengthen the bilateral ties with Kathmandu. Nepal, the country which has recently constituted a new constitution, is not in a stable state. This year, the country is going to witness a crucial election. It is very important that the sovereignty of one of the world’s oldest nation-states remains indestructible. Though the India has good relation with the mountainous neighbour, due to our big brother attitude Kathmandu is at this moment more connected to Beijing than to Delhi. Anyway, the Nepal PM’s visit to the country in a time at which the country is undergoing a serious crisis is a friendly sign and an appreciable move. Experts say that India should give up the big brother attitude and try to create common platforms from which the neighbours and the country itself equally gain.
