PM at Africa: India targets an ambitious growth rate of over 8%

 

While addressing a gathering of nearly twenty thousand, Indian-origin, Kenyan citizens at a stadium in Kenya, our Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted that the country is dedicatedly working towards achieving an ambitious economic growth of over eight per cent.He is in Africa for a five-day visit. In his brief journey, he was scheduled to visit Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, and South Africa.This is the first high -level visit from India to Africa after the historic visit of the then Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi, in early eighties.During his historic speech at Nairobi’s Kasarani Stadium, PM Modi announced that India is expected to achieve an ambitious economic growth of over eight per cent.Interestingly, his declaration about the growth plan was instantly appreciated with loud cheers.

PM proudly stated that in order to productively utilise the strength of our eighteen million youth population we have unveiled a unique program, ‘Start UP India’.Meanwhile, he invited global participation in fighting the universal threats- global warming and terrorism.To his surprise, Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta unexpectedly dropped into the venue to join PM Modi.He formally thanked Mr Kenyatta, saying it is a matter of great honour and privilege for Indians.In return, Mr Kenyatta shared his happiness and excitement with the audience about the PM Modi’s visit. He thanked PM Modi for accepting his request to visit Kenya.It is learned that both leaders will participate in a bilateral talk organised to strengthen the Indo-Kenya relations.In the meeting, they are expected to deliberate wide range of subjects from trade to terrorism.
