Political pressure over centre on ‘AP Special Status’ intensifies; YSR MPs resigns as a protest against centre’s inaction

As a protest against the central government’s reluctance to grand a special status to the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, the parliamentarians belonging to the YSR Congress party, one of the most powerful regional parties based in the state, has failed their resignation before the Lok Sabha speaker on the last day of the budget session (that is, today).

Vara Prasad Rao, Midhun Reddy, Mekapati Mohan Reddy, Y V Subba Reddy and Y S Avinash Reddy are the prominent YSR Congress MPs who has resigned their post today.

The parliamentarians of the YSR Congress and TDP have been disturbing the proceedings of the parliament since the commencement of this budget session.

The leaders of the YSR Congress and TDP earlier asserted that their members would resign from the parliament if their demands are not addressed before the end of this parliament session.

The lawmakers of the TDP are presently staging a sit-in inside the chamber of the Lok Sabha speaker.

Earlier, there were reports that the Telugu Desham Party MPs would resign on the last day of the budget session.

Will the TDP MPs also follow the path of their regional rival? How will the Saffron Party overcome the threat posed by the Andhra Pradesh ire?
