RS Chairman rejects opposition’s impeachment motion against CJI

The chairman of the Rajya Sabha, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, has rejected an impeachment motion presented against the Chief Justice of India, Dipak Misra by the opposition parties under the leadership of the giant old party, Congress.

At this moment, it is not clear on which ground the motion has been rejected by the Chairman of the Upper House.

A source has informed a national media that the BJP government was not interested to allow the issue hang around the lawmaking house for a long period as it know that such a situation would disturb the stability and proper functioning of the house.

The motion has the support of the leftist parties such the Communist Party of India and the Communist Party of India (Marxist), National Congress Party, SP, BSP and Indian Union Muslim League.

It has been reported that the RS chairman has sought proper advices from several experts before announcing his decision to reject the motion of the opposition.

A senior Congress leader has claimed that there are many provisions in the Indian Constitution to overcome the hindrance emerged before the impeachment motion due to the RS chairman’s stand.

A source opines that the opposition parties are likely to approach the judicial system itself in order to overcome the hindrance.

If they choose to challenge the RS chairman’s move in the court, the senior SC Judges, who are next in rank to the CJI, will get a chance to decide in this matter as the CJI is a prime element in the case.
