Saffron triumph continues

While the counting process is progressing in all assembly constituencies of Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland in which the assembly elections took place recently, all eyes are on the Communist bastion of East, where the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has been ruling for last twenty-five years consecutively.

Surprisingly, this time, in Tripura, the Bharatiya Janata Party, which is the prime rival of the CPM, and which is a new party to the voters of the state who are mostly tribal community members, is likely to reach the first position.

As per the latest updates published by the Election Commission of India in their official website, in the Indian state of Tripura, the BJP either has won or is leading in as many as thirty-two seats in the sixty member state assembly. Meanwhile, as per the updates, the CPI (M), the party which has been ruling the eastern state for decades, has only succeeded in showing their power in below nineteen seats. Notably, the Indigenous People Front of Tripura, with whom the BJP has a pre-poll alliance, either has won or is approaching to victory in over eight seats as per the report.

Even, in other two states, Meghalaya and Nagaland, the BJP has managed to gain some gains. In Nagaland, the state in which the ruling Naga People Front is continuing its triumph by demonstrating strong performance in over twenty-two seats, as per the updates, the BJP and its partner, the newly formed Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party, is leading in above twenty seats.

In Meghalaya, the state which is dominated by the Christian community, as expected, has shown no enthusiasm to leave the grand old party’s hand. As per the report, the congress is leading in at least twenty seats in the state.

In precise, almost all parties have gained something with this election result, except the CPM.
