Siachen soldier Lance Naik Hanamanthappa passed away, Army official confirms


Siachen soldier Lance Naik Hanamanthappa passed away on Thursday 11:45 am at Army’s Research & Referral hospital.  Army officials informed via media “Really sorry to inform everyone that Lance Naik Hanamanthappa is no more. He breathed his last breath at 11:45 a.m. today,”.

Lance Naik Hanamanthappa was rescued alive from 35 feet of ice on Monday night. He was posted in Siachen glacier and the avalanche led to the burial of their camp on Feb 3rd. He was admitted in Army’s research and referral hospital on Tuesday and has been on ventilator ever since. His health continuously deteriorated with multiple organ failure. A team of medical tried their level best to save the soldier. His family hails from Koppad in Karnataka and is survived by his wife Jayashri and daughter Netra.
