19-Year-Old Arrested in Florida for Alleged School Shooting Plot and Other Attacks

In a startling turn of events, a 19-year-old man from South Florida has been arrested following the discovery of detailed written threats outlining a sinister plan for a “shooting spree” at his former school and other locations. Henry Horton IV, who graduated from high school in May 2022, was apprehended during a routine traffic stop on September 18. Law enforcement officers found handwritten notes in his vehicle describing his intention to “kill everyone” at Okeechobee High School on January 2, 2026, which coincides with his 22nd birthday. The arrest came after further investigation into his disturbing plans, including mass murder plots, bomb-making plans, and intentions to harm his stepmother.

Horton’s alarming plot was exposed when a search of his car yielded handwritten notes, and an examination of his phone unveiled a chilling manifesto detailing his intentions. He reportedly admitted to struggling with mental health issues in the past and had contemplated “mass homicide” that he planned to execute on his 22nd birthday. During the traffic stop, when questioned about his destination, Horton mentioned he was traveling to Miami, where he allegedly intended to target a church and harm approximately ten people following his planned 2026 attack on his former school.

Subsequently, Henry Horton IV was placed under the Florida Mental Health Act for a mental health evaluation. On September 29, he disclosed to investigators his intention to harm his stepmother and was subsequently arrested. In response to these developments, Horton’s mother, Marcie Horton, described her son as a “good kid” and emphasized her belief that he would not have carried out his alleged plans. She called for officials to provide him with the necessary mental health treatment. Similarly, his stepmother, Alisha Horton, voiced her conviction that he would not harm her and appealed for him to receive appropriate mental health care instead of being treated as a criminal.
