According to Jolie’s attorney, James Simon, after one of Hollywood’s longest and most contentious divorces, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have settled. The agreement comes more than eight years after Jolie initially filed for divorce in 2016, citing alleged abuse during a private jet flight. While details of the settlement remain undisclosed, the resolution ends the drawn-out process of dividing assets and determining custody arrangements for the couple’s six children.
Despite being declared divorced and legally single in 2019, disputes over financial and custodial matters prolonged the proceedings. A previous custody agreement was nullified when a private judge was removed for conflict of interest, forcing the couple to restart negotiations. The use of private judges, now a common choice among celebrities, kept much of the case out of public view. Still, some details emerged through a related lawsuit over the couple’s jointly owned French winery, which remains unresolved.
Jolie’s attorney expressed her relief that this chapter is over, stating the actress has focused on family healing since the separation. Pitt’s team has not yet commented on the agreement, and the final settlement still requires a judge’s approval. Once considered one of Hollywood’s golden couples, Jolie and Pitt were together for 12 years and married for two before their high-profile split.
