Bijou Phillips Files for Divorce from Danny Masterson Following His Sentencing for Rape

Bijou Phillips, the wife of former “That ’70s Show” actor Danny Masterson, has officially filed for divorce after Masterson’s recent sentencing to 30 years to life in prison for the rape of two women. This confirmation came from Phillips’ attorney, Peter Lauzon, who emphasized that her primary concern remains the well-being of their daughter. The ordeal, which included the highly publicized trial and sentencing, has placed an immense strain on their marriage and family.

Known for her roles in films such as “Almost Famous” and “Bully,” Phillips and Masterson tied the knot in 2011 and shared one daughter together. The couple also acted alongside each other in various movies, like “The Bridge to Nowhere” and “Wake.” Despite the divorce filing, Lauzon’s statement acknowledged Masterson as a “wonderful father” to their child, underscoring the complexity of the situation.

Masterson, 47, was found guilty in July on two counts of rape that occurred two decades ago, with a third charge leading to a mistrial in December 2022. During his recent sentencing, Masterson did not address the court, nor did he testify during the trial. Phillips was notably present in court when her husband was convicted, visibly emotional as he was led out of the courtroom. This development marks a significant chapter in the ongoing legal saga surrounding the actor.
