
Former Israel President Shimon Peres, one of the founding fathers of the country, has died at the age of ninety-three. As per the report, he was hospitalised in last week after he suffered a minor stroke. The report added that he was admitted in the Intensive Care Unit of the Sheba Medical Centre on November 13. Notably, for his key role in negotiating peace between Israel and Palestine, he was felicitated with the most prestigious Nobel Peace prize in 1994.
Several times, he initiated peace talk with the Palestinian government. He once even termed the Israel’s closest neighbour as its closest friend. It is learned that the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, expressed his deep grief on the unexpected death of the former supremo. Several international personalities including US President Barak Obama expressed their extreme grief on the passing of the great leader of the world.
Mr Peres was born in 1923 in Wisniew, Poland. In 1959, he was initially elected to the Israeli parliament. Notably, he held the Prime Ministerial position twice. Moreover, he was once elected to the top position. More importantly, he served in nearly twelve Israeli governments. During his tenure, he was instrumental in clinching several arms deals with some of the top supplier nations. He was certainly a strong negotiator. While making a public statement after the death of Mr Peres, Chemi, Mr Peres’s son, claims that his father served Israel even before the national was officially established.
