A wanted fugitive shot and killed by Dallas police earlier this week had reportedly been part of the security detail for U.S. Representative Jasmine Crockett, according to a late Friday report by CBS News Texas citing sources. The man, publicly known as Mike King, allegedly used multiple aliases while operating a business that arranged off-duty security jobs for police officers. Authorities have not yet disclosed his real name.
Dallas police said SWAT officers shot and killed the suspect on Wednesday night. According to the report, King was wanted for impersonating a law enforcement officer and had presented himself as an officer while running Off Duty Police Services, an online platform that connected North Texas police officers with off-duty employment opportunities.
CBS News Texas reported that images obtained by the outlet showed King standing near Crockett at public events and during her recent campaign activities for a U.S. Senate seat. The report also stated that he allegedly drove a replica undercover police vehicle and used license plates stolen from cars outside a military recruiting office. Crockett’s office and the Dallas Police Department did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
