In order to calm down the rebel MLAs of Manipur, Congress high-command on last day reshuffled the state leadership by removing top party official of the state. It is said that the congress party is extremely conscious this time and have tactically taken preventive measures to avoid any kind of unexpected situations like Arunachal crisis and Uttarakhand crisis. Reports say that the high-command of the grand old party may also revamp the state’s cabinet for averting all possibilities of a rebel revolt inside the party. It is learned that nearly twenty five congress MLAs have joined the rebel faction to revolt against the ruling congress government lead by Okram Ibobi Singh. As per reports, their main demand was to remove the top party official of the state and to reshuffle the cabinet ministry by including some of the rebel members. They reportedly claimed that the Chief Minister Okram had earlier promised them he would reshuffle the ministry after completing two and half years. But, after getting into the top seat he tactically backed from his vow, alleged rebel faction. On last day, PCC president Gaikhangam Gangmei, who is also the Deputy CM of the state, was replaced by T N Haokip, who enjoys a strong-support from both dissidents and ruling factions. It is learned that a top high-command committee including Congress president Sonia Gandhi convened a meeting with both factions and reportedly promised them that she would take necessary action to sort out the issue at the earliest. Anyway, the Manipur state committee have denied all speculations about the PCC president’s removal and claims that it is a normal procedure and it was party’s decision to implement ‘one man one post policy.’
