New York Mayor Eric Adams Faces Federal Indictment Amid Multiple Investigations

New York Mayor Eric Adams is expected to face federal charges, with an indictment reportedly issued by prosecutors from the Southern District of New York. While the charges remain sealed, Adams has denied any wrongdoing, vowing to fight any accusations. His administration has already been impacted by multiple federal probes, including investigations into illegal campaign contributions and special treatment of businesses, leading to the resignation of several top officials.

One investigation reportedly focuses on whether Adams’ mayoral campaign received illegal funds from the Turkish government. Another inquiry involves allegations that Adams pressured city officials to approve a building for the Turkish Consulate despite safety concerns. The FBI has seized Adams’ phones as part of the investigation and questioned several officials close to him.

Calls for Adams to resign have intensified, with political figures like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and City Comptroller Brad Lander urging him to step down. Adams, however, has stated that he will not resign and maintains that any charges against him are false.
