Peru’s Top Court Suspends Probes Into President Dina Boluarte Until 2026

Peru’s Constitutional Court has ordered the suspension of ongoing investigations into President Dina Boluarte until the end of her current term in July 2026. The decision, released on Tuesday, came after the executive branch filed a complaint against the prosecutor’s office and judiciary, arguing that the probes should be postponed.

Boluarte was facing investigations over her alleged role in the deaths of protesters following her rise to power in late 2022, accusations of illicit enrichment, and a controversial incident in which she reportedly abandoned her post after undergoing cosmetic surgery without notifying Congress. The president has firmly denied all allegations.

The ruling comes as Peru continues to grapple with political instability, having seen six presidents in just seven years. Boluarte, who remains deeply unpopular, will now serve out her term without judicial scrutiny from these cases until July 28, 2026, when the investigations could potentially resume.
