Russian Missile Strikes Devastate Kyiv and Kryvyi Rih, Killing at Least 20

In a brutal wave of attacks, Russian missiles struck five Ukrainian cities on Monday, resulting in at least 20 fatalities and leaving approximately 50 injured. The Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, was particularly hard-hit, with a children’s hospital, Okhmatdyt, suffering severe damage. Rescuers are still searching for survivors beneath the rubble of the partially collapsed wing, while local officials report that windows and doors of the hospital’s main building were blown out, and thick smoke still rises from the site.

The central Ukrainian city of Kryvyi Rih also endured a devastating assault, with at least 10 people killed and 31 injured. The city administration head, Oleksandr Vilkul, described the event as a massive missile attack. Explosions were reported across Ukraine’s central Dnipropetrovsk region as well. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized the severity of the situation on social media, urging the global community not to remain silent and to recognize the destructive actions of Russia.

This assault, which marks the heaviest bombardment of Kyiv in nearly four months, utilized advanced weaponry, including Kinzhal hypersonic missiles. These missiles, which travel at ten times the speed of sound, caused significant structural damage across the city. The attacks come just before a crucial three-day NATO summit in Washington, where discussions will focus on reaffirming support for Ukraine amidst Europe’s most significant conflict since World War II.
