In a shocking incident that unfolded on Wednesday evening at a fast food restaurant in Tulsa Hills, a man miraculously survived a brutal attack where a convict drove a flagpole, with the US flag attached, through his skull. According to witnesses and a Facebook post from the police, the attacker, identified as Clinton Collins, allegedly stabbed the man with the flagpole while callously remarking, “That’s what he gets. He deserved it,” as reported by the New York Post.
Eyewitnesses recounted the horrifying scene, with police officer Danny Bean describing the attack as if it were a scene from a horror movie. The flagpole struck the victim beneath his jaw and exited through the other side of his skull near his right temple. Despite the severity of the injury, the victim survived the ordeal, but medical experts predict he may lose an eye due to the extent of the damage.
Following the attack, Clinton Collins was swiftly apprehended by the authorities and charged with maiming, a felony crime in Oklahoma that carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment. The motive behind this bizarre and brutal assault remains unclear as the police have not disclosed any information on the matter.
Notably, Collins is a member of the Muscogee, a self-governed Native American tribe situated in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. The incident occurred within the context of the 2020 US Supreme Court ruling, which declared that Oklahoma prosecutors lack authority to pursue criminal cases against tribal citizens in a significant portion of eastern Oklahoma, as it remains an American Indian reservation. However, the court also affirmed that Oklahoma can prosecute non-Native Americans for crimes committed on tribal land when the victim is a Native American.
As the investigation continues, the community remains shocked and concerned about the motives and implications of this disturbing act of violence in a public place. The victim’s survival has sparked discussions about the severity of the charges brought against the perpetrator, and the case has garnered significant attention nationwide.
