Taliban rule; Biden and Boris Johnson had an active discussion

US President Joe Biden talks with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson about the current situation in Afghanistan. The discussion of world leaders was over the phone. This is Biden’s first meeting with another world leader since the Taliban seized control of Afghanistan.

The White House says it has decided to convene a virtual meeting of G-7 leaders next week to discuss a general approach to the Afghanistan issue. The White House said the leaders agreed to coordinate with allies on providing future aid and support to Afghanistan in the event of a Taliban seizure of power.

The White House said in a statement that it “appreciated the courage and professionalism of the soldiers and diplomats who are leading the evacuation process in Afghanistan.”
