U.S. to Release Key Trade Probe Results in Coming Weeks, Says Trade Representative

The Trump administration will announce the outcomes of several Section 301 trade investigations over the coming weeks, according to U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer. Speaking on CNBC’s Squawk Box on Tuesday, Greer said the proposed 25% tariffs under consideration are more targeted than they may appear, with broad exemptions planned for products such as beef, coffee, metals, energy, and other essential goods.

Greer defended the administration’s tariff strategy, arguing that it has delivered positive results by helping increase U.S. exports and strengthening the country’s trade position. He maintained that substantial tariffs remain necessary to address what he described as longstanding unfair trade practices by trading partners around the world.

The trade representative also pointed to the United States’ significant trade deficit as a key reason for maintaining a tougher stance on international trade. The forthcoming Section 301 investigation findings are expected to play a major role in shaping the administration’s next phase of trade policy and tariff decisions.
