US court finds Roger Stone guilty

A United States court has found one of the prime advisors of US President Donald Trump, Roger Stone, guilty of lying to Congress and witness tampering.

The court has found the statement he made before a Congress intelligence committee in connection with the Russian interference in the last US Presidential Election.

Mr. Stone is not the first person who has been arrested in connection with the issue. So far, at least five persons have gone behind bars because of this issue.

The charges raised against Mr. Stone are very severe. The charge of witness tampering alone is capable enough to attract the severe punishment of 20 years imprisonment.

At this moment, it remains unclear how harsh his punishment will be. He still stick on to his stand that the charges levelled against him are politically motivated.

Mr. Trump has supported the argument raised by his advisor. He has expressed his dissatisfaction in the court verdict.

The US is going to witness a crucial Presidential Election next year. The aforesaid development is likely to have a huge impact in the scheduled election.

In the recent times, the popularity of Donald Trump among the population of the country has come down significantly.

If the things progress this way, the chances for Mr. Trump to get an additional five year in the seat of power of the world’s most powerful country are feeble.
