A 28-year-old woman from Louisville, Ricki Smith, was arrested in Evansville on Friday after attempting to steal multiple vehicles, claiming she was acting under telepathic orders from musician Kanye West. Smith caused a disturbance outside a local business as she tried to enter several cars, including one with a child inside, according to NBC reports.
Witnesses reported Smith entering an unlocked vehicle and refusing to leave when confronted by bystanders. The situation escalated when she got into another car belonging to a woman who had briefly stepped away, leaving her child in the back seat. Upon returning, the car owner forcibly removed Smith from the vehicle and plans to press charges.
Smith later told police that her actions were guided by West’s supposed telepathic instructions. Investigations revealed she had crashed her own car earlier before attempting the thefts. Smith is currently being held at the Vanderburgh County Jail.
