The Union Ministry of Human Resource Development denied Jamia Milia Islamia University’s request to award an honorary doctorate to actor Shah Rukh Khan in 2018, based on an RTI response. The government withdrew the offer, saying it ‘wouldn’t be in classification’ as SRK had received a similar degree from the Maulana Azad National Urdu University.
