The political coalition between the Congress Party and Janata Dal (Secular) formed in the South Indian state of Karnataka during the aftermath of the recent assembly election has proved its sustainability in the state, as the coalition has almost wristed nearly four out of the five constituencies that went to the by-elections recently as nearly ninety per cent of the votes of these constituencies have been counted.
Many consider the latest by-elections as the semi-finals of the upcoming general election. For the Congress-JD(S) coalition, it has been a golden opportunity to prove its acceptance among the Karnataka electorate. From what little is known at this moment, it remains clear that the coalition has succeeded in their attempt.
An expert says that it is wrong to evaluate the latest by-election result as the clear indicator of the complete collapse of the BJP-led front in the state.
The BJP is likely to secure a huge victory in the Shivamogga Lob Sabha constituency –one of the five constituencies in which the counting is progressing.
The expert, while explaining the nearing victory of the Congress-JD(S) coalition, has evaluated it as the natural outcome of the combination of the votes of the JD(S) and the Congress Party.
Both the JD(S) and Congress enjoy a huge vote share each in the state. It outnumbers the total vote share of the BJP in the state.
As per the expert’s opinion, if no miracles happen, the BJP will not make any great performance in the upcoming general election.
In all previous occasion when the saffron party showed an astounding performance in the election, the election was a three-front battle between the Congress, JD(S) and the BJP.
