Dakota Access Pipeline project triggers huge protest; famous actress arrested

In an effort to block the Dakota Access Pipeline project, huge protest erupted in North Dakota in which nearly twenty-seven people including renowned Hollywood actress Shailene Woodley have been arrested by the police authorities.The film star was broadcasting the entire event through her social media platform when the police authorities arrested her.The pipeline project is expected to cross four states. If implemented, it is likely to hurt the environment, historical sites, and sacred regions badly, reportedly believe protesters.

The protesters are mostly native Americans. As per the report, they blocked the construction of the project in this region.In her social media live footage, the actress claimed that she was peacefully participating in the protest. She added that she was purposefully handpicked by the police officers because she is a famous personality.Anyway, the video footage published by the actress on the social media platform (Facebook) became viral quickly. Nearly 2.4 million people have watched the video until now.However, through this dramatic incident, the protest against the interstate pipeline got more attention across the country.It is learned that the proposed pipeline will run through North Dakota, South Dakota, Lowa, and Illinois. Moreover, it covers nearly 1,168 miles.The project implementers and developers assert that this project is safer than transporting the oil through other ways. They added that it will enhance and strengthen the local economy rapidly.
