Indicating the possibility of a coalition approach in the 2019 Lok Sabha election, senior TMC leader Mukul Roy asserted the TMC supremo, Mamata Banerjee, popularly known as ‘Didi’, will become the next Prime Minister of India. It seems that the West Bengal’s powerful political organization would take initiative to form a giant coalition in order to check the growing strength of Bharatiya Janata Party. The TMC leader hopes that his party would gain nearly forty-one seats out of forty-two seats in West Bengal.
Apart from the West Bengal, the TMC is eyeing electoral gains in several North East states including Tripura. Traditionally, Tripura and West Bengal were communist forts. Anyway, the TMC has successfully shattered the communist culture of West Bengal. Interestingly, the powerful statement regarding the TMC’s future plan was delivered in a rally organized at Barjala in Tripura.
The TMC leader pledged that his party would not let the BJP to rule the country for nearly ten consecutive years. In that sense, next parliament election will be a crucial time for the regionalist parties eyeing to grab a position in the centre, says the expert. Notably, the TMC leader predicted that though the regional parties would show powerful presence in the next election, the TMC would be the largest party in the parliament.
Earlier, the TMC strongly criticized the central government over the currency issue. TMC leader alleges that the central government would not point their hands against the capitalist because they funded the BJP to win the 2014 general election.
