Amidst the proliferation of rumours that the health of DMK Supremo M Karunanidhi is deteriorating consistently, the Chief Minister of the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu, Edappadi K Palaniswami, has said, after meeting the DMK leader at the Kauvery Hospital in Chennai, that the health of the senior political leader of the state is progressing.
Tens of thousands of DMK supporters have gathered outside the hospital to enquire about the health condition of their beloved leader. The police officials have faced serious difficulty to control the crowd. The DMK leaders, including M K Stalin, have requested the crowd to stay calm.
Unfortunately, two DMK supporters have allegedly died of heart attack after they heard the rumours that their leader’s health is consistently deteriorating.
Several senior political leaders, including the Tamil Nadu CM and Deputy CM O Paneerselvam, have visited the hospital.
There are reports that the police authorities have been asked to tighten the security measures.
Mr Karunanidhi is the most powerful leader the Indian state of Tamil Nadu has ever witnessed. He is the third Chief Minister of the state. He is popular for his role in the famous Dravidian movement which emerged in its full form in the state in the first years of the post Independence era.
