Marking an end to the culpable silence the centre have been maintaining about the issue of mob lynching since the inception of rightist government, the central government has initiated a concrete step to contain the manic of lynching.
A bureaucrat panel, which conducted a detailed study about the issue, has submitted its report before a political executive group, which is constituted of some senior ministers, as a part of the government’s preliminary efforts to contain the manic.
The panel report observes that the new age media platform of social media plays a vital role in the issue of mob lynching. There are assumptions that the fake news propagated through the social media platforms often results to the serious crimes such as mob lynching. At this moment, it is not clear which all are the recent mob lynching cases which have been triggered by the social media posts. There is clarity in one thing that in the recent past at least twenty lynching cases have offered due to the influence of the fake news and posts propagated through the social media platforms.
As per a latest report, the report submitted before the group of ministers will be forwarded to the Prime Minister Office along with the suggestions and changes the ministers may make in the report.
